These tabs can be found on several other websites, but the ones I primarily use are MetalTabs.com and Ultimate-Guitar.com (with certain songs uploaded as MIDI to HamieNet.com). If you find them elsewhere chances are they're severely out of date. I was also using MySongBook.com but the MPA had their way with that website several years ago. Likewise, many of the tabs I've submitted to MetalTabs.com are unavailable on that site due to legal issues; Ultimate-Guitar.com and this blog are the only sites which contain everything in one place, unfortunately.
The Guitar Pro files can only be opened using the latest version of the software, which is currently 5.2. Guitar Pro 6 has been released but I'm not sure how "faithfully" GP5 tabs are displayed in it and I have no intention of upgrading any time soon. The freeware/open source TuxGuitar can probably open the GP5 tabs if you don't have Guitar Pro, although this program doesn't render the tabs very well.
If you don't have Guitar Pro I am more than happy to send you WAV/MP3 and image/PDF exports. The MIDIs supplied on this page are exported from Guitar Pro so they'll sound identical.
You may find it easier to navigate through this page by opening a search dialogue (press Ctrl+F, or CMD+F for Mac users). The songs are sorted in alphabetical order, as are the bands/artists.
Information regarding updates will be appended to the bottom of the page, with most recent updates being at the very bottom. To keep the page reasonably small I'll delete updates older than 4 months.

A sheet music transcription of the bass tab is available upon request should you want to incorporate the root notes into the left-hand transcription yourself for easier solo play.
